Final Reading List of 2014
As another year comes to an end so does a year worth of reading. When starting the new year I was just hoping to break my 2013 gaol which was 50 books. Seeing as 2013 in my eyes was a huge milestone. Little did I know that I was going to discover a ton new authors and just get consumed by so many books. his year I managed to finish 78 books, 78 BOOKS!! that is just crazy to me on top of a crazy class schedule. This just means that I'll have to top 78 books in 2015. I'm ready for another year of good books and whatever comes my way. So here are the books of 2014 reading list

Newbies Part 2
Since School is starting I had to make one last trip and stock up for the semester. My goal was to get some of Colleen Hoover's book. I have being hearing a lot about her and though it was time to finally grab a few to add to my collection. Top top it off I got No Attachments by Tiffany King since she was another author I would pick up constantly, but would never end up buying.
No Attachments
Ashton Garrison walked away from her current life to escape the one thing she’s unwilling to face. She knows her decision may be selfish, but in the end, leaving will be far less painful for everyone. Now she has one goal: live life to the fullest with no regrets and no attachments. What Ashton doesn’t count on is how fate always seems to find a way to screw up any good plan.
Nathan Lockton specializes in locating a mark. He’s done it over and over again—no attachments and no emotion necessary. What he thought was a routine lost-and-found job has forced Nathan to deal with something he has always ignored—his feelings. He’s never fallen for a target, yet he’s never met anyone like Ashton. Now deep in a dilemma, Nathan must decide to follow his heart, or complete the job he was hired to do.
Love can come when you least expect it. The question is: If the odds are stacked against you, how far are you willing to go for the one you love?
Losing Hope
#1 New York Times bestselling author Colleen Hoover held readers spellbound with her novelHopeless, the story of what happened when a troubled girl named Sky encountered a long-lost childhood friend, Dean Holder. With Holder’s help, Sky uncovered shocking family secrets and came to terms with memories and emotions that had left deep scars.
Hopeless was Sky’s story. Now, in Losing Hope, we finally learn the truth about Dean Holder.
Haunted by the little girl he couldn’t save from imminent danger, Holder’s life has been overshadowed by feelings of guilt and remorse. He has never stopped searching for her, believing that finding her would bring him the peace he needs to move on. However, Holder could not have anticipated that he would be faced with even greater pain the moment they reconnected.
In Losing Hope, Holder reveals the way in which the events of Sky’s youth affected him and his family, leading him to seek his own redemption in the act of saving her. But it is only in loving Sky that he can finally begin to heal himself.
Colleen Hoover’s romantic, emotion-packed debut novel unforgettably captures all the magic and confusion of first love, as two young people forge an unlikely bond before discovering that fate has other plans for them.
Following the unexpected death of her father, eighteen-year-old Layken becomes the rock for both her mother and younger brother. She appears resilient and tenacious, but inside, she's losing hope. Then she meets her new neighbor Will, a handsome twenty-one-year-old whose mere presence leaves her flustered and whose passion for poetry slams thrills her.
Not long after a heart-stopping first date during which each recognizes something profound and familiar in the other, they are slammed to the core when a shocking discovery brings their new relationship to a sudden halt. Daily interactions become impossibly painful as they struggle to find a balance between the feelings that pull them together and the forces that tear them apart. Only through the poetry they share are they able to speak the truth that is in their hearts and imagine a future where love is cause for celebration, not regret.
At twenty-two years old, Sydney is enjoying a great life: She’s in college, working a steady job, in love with her wonderful boyfriend, Hunter, and rooming with her best friend, Tori. But everything changes when she discovers that Hunter is cheating on her—and she’s forced to decide what her next move should be.
Soon, Sydney finds herself captivated by her mysterious and attractive neighbor, Ridge. She can't take her eyes off him or stop listening to the passionate way he plays his guitar every evening out on his balcony. And there’s something about Sydney that Ridge can’t ignore, either. They soon find themselves needing each other in more ways than one.
A passionate tale of friendship, betrayal, and romance, Maybe Someday will immerse readers in Sydney’s tumultuous world from the very first page.
When Tate Collins meets airline pilot Miles Archer, she doesn't think it's love at first sight. They wouldn’t even go so far as to consider themselves friends. The only thing Tate and Miles have in common is an undeniable mutual attraction. Once their desires are out in the open, they realize they have the perfect set-up. He doesn’t want love, she doesn’t have time for love, so that just leaves the sex. Their arrangement could be surprisingly seamless, as long as Tate can stick to the only two rules Miles has for her.
Never ask about the past.
Don’t expect a future.
They think they can handle it, but realize almost immediately they can’t handle it at all.
Hearts get infiltrated.
Promises get broken.
Rules get shattered.
Love gets ugly.

Welcome the Newbies
Welcome the newest addition to my collection. Since my summer is rapidly coming to an end I had to make one last trip and get a few more books. Of course I don't really need anymore books at the moment, but how could I resist. Working at a bookstore can cause a problem for an avid reader as myself. I tend to make multiple trips when I'm not in school, leaving with anywhere between 2-6 books at a time. I also tend to make quick trips since I only allow myself a certain amount of time. If I didn't I could cause some major damage. For this trip I decided to pick up two books that I have been eyeing for awhile and found a new author in the New Adult genre. With my list of must reads for the fall and winter hopefully these will make good additions.
LEAD ME NOT
Aubrey Duncan understands loss. She knows what rock bottom looks like, and she is determined to crawl back up to the top after the sudden death of her younger sister. She blames herself for her part in the tragedy, convinced that she could have done something, anything, to help her.
In her effort to gain redemption, Aubrey starts fresh at Longwood University and facilitates an addiction support group, hoping she can support someone else in the way she failed her sister. But what she doesn’t count on is an all-consuming fascination with group member Maxx Demelo, a gorgeous, blond, blue-eyed enigma who hides dark secrets behind a carefully constructed mask. He only reveals what he wants others to see. But Aubrey glimpses another Maxx hidden below the surface—a Maxx who is drowning in his own personal hell.
As Aubrey and Maxx develop an attraction too intense to ignore, he pulls her into the dark underbelly of the city club scene, where she is torn by her desire to save him and an inexplicable urge to join him in his downward spiral. Worst of all, she is beginning to love everything she should run away from—a man who threatens to ignite in her a fire that could burn her alive…
FIND YOU IN THE DARKMaggie Young had the market on normal. Normal friends, normal parents, normal grades…normal life. Until him.
Clayton Reed was running from his past and an army of personal demons that threatened to take him down. He never thought he had a chance at happiness. Until her.
Maggie thought their love could overcome anything. Clay thought she was all he needed to fix his messy life. That together, they could face the world. But the darkness is always waiting. Sometimes the greatest obstacle to true love is within yourself.
LIGHT IN THR SHADOWSHow do you keep going when you feel like your life is over?
Maggie never thought she’d see Clay again. So, she attempts to put her life back together after her heart has been shattered to pieces. Moving on and moving forward, just as Clay wanted her to. Clay never stopped thinking of Maggie. Even after ripping their lives apart and leaving her behind to get the help he so desperately needed. He is healing…slowly. But his heart still belongs to the girl who tried to save him.
When a sudden tragedy brings Maggie and Clay face-to-face again, nothing is the same. Yet some things never change. Can the darkness that threatened to consume them be transformed into something else and finally give them what they always wanted? And can two people who fought so hard to be together, finally find their happiness? Or will their demons and fear drive them apart for good?
The thing about love is that even when it destroys you, it has a way of mending what is broken. And in the shadows, you can still see the light
Shadow of Night plunges Diana and Matthew into Elizabethan London, a world of spies, subterfuge, and a coterie of Matthew’s old friends, the mysterious School of Night that includes Christopher Marlowe and Walter Raleigh. Here, Diana must locate a witch to tutor her in magic, Matthew is forced to confront a past he thought he had put to rest, and the mystery of Ashmole 782 deepens
THE NIGHT CIRCUS
The circus arrives without warning. No announcements precede it. It is simply there, when yesterday it was not. Within the black-and-white striped canvas tents is an utterly unique experience full of breathtaking amazements. It is called Le Cirque des Rêves, and it is only open at night.
But behind the scenes, a fierce competition is underway: a duel between two young magicians, Celia and Marco, who have been trained since childhood expressly for this purpose by their mercurial instructors. Unbeknownst to them both, this is a game in which only one can be left standing. Despite the high stakes, Celia and Marco soon tumble headfirst into love, setting off a domino effect of dangerous consequences, and leaving the lives of everyone, from the performers to the patrons, hanging in the balance.

Update
So I have really been slacking in keeping this up to date, but you know how it is life or in my case getting sucked into a reading wormhole. I have been keeping track of all the books i have been reading this summer and boy there's a lot. This time around i decided to find some new authors in the New Adult genre and i have found some gems that I'll continue following. Authors like Jessica Sorensen, Emma Chase, Courtney Cole, Rachel Van Dyken and so many more.
The whole point of this post though is to state that I have passed my goal from last summer. This time last summer I wanted to reach 40 books before school started(Which i had passed). Now this time around I wanted to get to that number or passed it. I didn't put any pressure on it though. I remember this time last year that towards the end it was a struggle to get to 40 because I wasn't able to get into the books. This time around I wanted to just read. I wanted to enjoy my summer when I wasn't working. I didn't want to get stuck and I wanted to discover some new authors. At the same time I wanted to take a step back from Paranormal Romances, which at the core are my favorites. But since last summer when I discover the New Adult genre I have found a ton new authors that i just couldn't put done. I was literally inhaling books left and right for months since school was let out in May. So as of right now with still a week left of my summer vacation I am at 52 books since the beginning of the year. I'm excited to see how many more books can I fit In by the end of the year. Last year I had read a total of 56 books. Already I am so close to that number, I have a feeling I can get at least into the 60s by the end of the year. With all these books I have found though that reading brings true joy for me. It is my escape and only with the last 2 years have a been paying attention to how much I actually read. I bet there are others out there that have surpassed my numbers, but I still it is amazing how much one person can actually read. It has come to the point where some close friends are actually keeping track of my progress and have come to me for help in finding new authors. It is pretty amazing how books hold so much power and wonder and bring people together. One thing is for sure I am a reader and I wouldn't change it for anything.

One day I will get the hang of this
So I know it has been awhile, it seems whenever I make the
commitment to blog more and keep up to date something always gets in the way.
School being the main reason at all times. rest assured though I am reading
every chance I get. Currently I am waiting for The King by JR Ward to be
delivered, but I did manage to read 3 books last week. They were quick reads,
something to just fill the time. Hopefully though it will be here on Monday and
I can start reading it. I am currently trying to get a big chunk of my
schoolwork done so I wont have too many things distracting me and I can jump
right in. until then though I am going to wait patiently like the good reader
that I am. For now I wait and continue to do school work. Maybe once things
settle down I can be faithful to this blog and bust out some good reviews.

As of Lately
In the
past week or so I have been really consumed in a series that I just can't seem
to put down. It has been a while since I had a non-paranormal book catch my
attention. Now I tend to have high standards when it comes to series especially
when there are men that are tough and kickass. I read series like the
Brotherhood and the Paladins where men have super strength and am nothing but
hard muscle and thick heads. Last year I picked up Tammara Webber and Jamie
McGuire, who were my first two authors into the New Adult genre. I do have to
say that so far I am enjoying this genre, I feel it is a good transition from
young adult to more adult books. They have the perfect balance of teen drama
and hot romances that can't even touch what you would find in young adult. At
the same time though when it comes to the sex cause if you're an avid reader in
paranormal romances like I am then you know that there can be some steamy stuff
going on. Some new adult authors will add in though scenes that just makes the
chemistry so much better. I recently picked the Marked Men series by Jay
Crownover, and man do I have to say that I love this group of boys and their
loyalty that they have for each other. Coming from the reading I usually do, I
was eating it up. It took me about 1-2 days to read each book. That right there
tells you how much I enjoyed each book. It is always rough coming from a good
series and then trying to find something that holds interest right afterwards.
Luckily in April the fourth installment (Nash) comes out, which I am very
excited about. On top of that The King and the reissue of Dark Lover by JR Ward
comes out as well. I can tell that April is going to a good month of reading.
It also comes at a good time since I’ll be on my way of finishing the spring semester.
Since the beginning of the year my reading has
been going strong. I haven’t had much of a rut yet. Since I finished Rome, I
decided to pick up an old favorite, Dark Lover. I haven’t read this book in a
while, but I feel that it is fitting since The King is coming out in April.
Since I’ve started reading I have realized that there is so much that I have
forgotten about. It is as if I am reading the book for the first time. I’m
really into it all over again, at the same time though I am taking my time and
reading it with fresh eyes. The next few months should be a whole lot of fantastic
reading
Until
Next Time

It's a new year which means a new group of books for me. I do plan on rereading certain series since some of them are coming out with new books, and of course I just have to re-read them to remember all the details. Who can blame me with all the books that i read within the year. Half the time my brain purges information to make room for more. I do have to say though that I'm pretty proud with how many books i read this year. In the past I would never keep track, but now that I do I feel motivated to read even more and to discover new series this year. 2013 to seem to be the year that I really discovered more new series that I would have never picked up in the past. Out of the year I discover Lara Adrian, Christine Feehan, Alexis Morgan, I rediscovered Gena Showalter as well. I enjoyed all the books that I read in 2013 some obviously stood out more than the rest. In the new year i'm expecting new books from Ward and Adrian which I am excited for, I'm also excited to discover some new series. Lets hope 2014 is a good reading year.
until next time
