So I have really been slacking in keeping this up to date, but you know how it is life or in my case getting sucked into a reading wormhole. I have been keeping track of all the books i have been reading this summer and boy there's a lot. This time around i decided to find some new authors in the New Adult genre and i have found some gems that I'll continue following. Authors like Jessica Sorensen, Emma Chase, Courtney Cole, Rachel Van Dyken and so many more.
The whole point of this post though is to state that I have passed my goal from last summer. This time last summer I wanted to reach 40 books before school started(Which i had passed). Now this time around I wanted to get to that number or passed it. I didn't put any pressure on it though. I remember this time last year that towards the end it was a struggle to get to 40 because I wasn't able to get into the books. This time around I wanted to just read. I wanted to enjoy my summer when I wasn't working. I didn't want to get stuck and I wanted to discover some new authors. At the same time I wanted to take a step back from Paranormal Romances, which at the core are my favorites. But since last summer when I discover the New Adult genre I have found a ton new authors that i just couldn't put done. I was literally inhaling books left and right for months since school was let out in May. So as of right now with still a week left of my summer vacation I am at 52 books since the beginning of the year. I'm excited to see how many more books can I fit In by the end of the year. Last year I had read a total of 56 books. Already I am so close to that number, I have a feeling I can get at least into the 60s by the end of the year. With all these books I have found though that reading brings true joy for me. It is my escape and only with the last 2 years have a been paying attention to how much I actually read. I bet there are others out there that have surpassed my numbers, but I still it is amazing how much one person can actually read. It has come to the point where some close friends are actually keeping track of my progress and have come to me for help in finding new authors. It is pretty amazing how books hold so much power and wonder and bring people together. One thing is for sure I am a reader and I wouldn't change it for anything.

One day I will get the hang of this
So I know it has been awhile, it seems whenever I make the
commitment to blog more and keep up to date something always gets in the way.
School being the main reason at all times. rest assured though I am reading
every chance I get. Currently I am waiting for The King by JR Ward to be
delivered, but I did manage to read 3 books last week. They were quick reads,
something to just fill the time. Hopefully though it will be here on Monday and
I can start reading it. I am currently trying to get a big chunk of my
schoolwork done so I wont have too many things distracting me and I can jump
right in. until then though I am going to wait patiently like the good reader
that I am. For now I wait and continue to do school work. Maybe once things
settle down I can be faithful to this blog and bust out some good reviews.

As of Lately
In the
past week or so I have been really consumed in a series that I just can't seem
to put down. It has been a while since I had a non-paranormal book catch my
attention. Now I tend to have high standards when it comes to series especially
when there are men that are tough and kickass. I read series like the
Brotherhood and the Paladins where men have super strength and am nothing but
hard muscle and thick heads. Last year I picked up Tammara Webber and Jamie
McGuire, who were my first two authors into the New Adult genre. I do have to
say that so far I am enjoying this genre, I feel it is a good transition from
young adult to more adult books. They have the perfect balance of teen drama
and hot romances that can't even touch what you would find in young adult. At
the same time though when it comes to the sex cause if you're an avid reader in
paranormal romances like I am then you know that there can be some steamy stuff
going on. Some new adult authors will add in though scenes that just makes the
chemistry so much better. I recently picked the Marked Men series by Jay
Crownover, and man do I have to say that I love this group of boys and their
loyalty that they have for each other. Coming from the reading I usually do, I
was eating it up. It took me about 1-2 days to read each book. That right there
tells you how much I enjoyed each book. It is always rough coming from a good
series and then trying to find something that holds interest right afterwards.
Luckily in April the fourth installment (Nash) comes out, which I am very
excited about. On top of that The King and the reissue of Dark Lover by JR Ward
comes out as well. I can tell that April is going to a good month of reading.
It also comes at a good time since I’ll be on my way of finishing the spring semester.
Since the beginning of the year my reading has
been going strong. I haven’t had much of a rut yet. Since I finished Rome, I
decided to pick up an old favorite, Dark Lover. I haven’t read this book in a
while, but I feel that it is fitting since The King is coming out in April.
Since I’ve started reading I have realized that there is so much that I have
forgotten about. It is as if I am reading the book for the first time. I’m
really into it all over again, at the same time though I am taking my time and
reading it with fresh eyes. The next few months should be a whole lot of fantastic
reading

It's a new year which means a new group of books for me. I do plan on rereading certain series since some of them are coming out with new books, and of course I just have to re-read them to remember all the details. Who can blame me with all the books that i read within the year. Half the time my brain purges information to make room for more. I do have to say though that I'm pretty proud with how many books i read this year. In the past I would never keep track, but now that I do I feel motivated to read even more and to discover new series this year. 2013 to seem to be the year that I really discovered more new series that I would have never picked up in the past. Out of the year I discover Lara Adrian, Christine Feehan, Alexis Morgan, I rediscovered Gena Showalter as well. I enjoyed all the books that I read in 2013 some obviously stood out more than the rest. In the new year i'm expecting new books from Ward and Adrian which I am excited for, I'm also excited to discover some new series. Lets hope 2014 is a good reading year.

Finals Week
Finals week has come upon us. Thankfully I only have one
exam to worry about and get back into reading full time between catching up
with friends and working. With classes coming to an end, friends are staring to
come back home for the holidays. One of the best things about winter break is
seeing my friends that go to school out of state. One of my closest friend is
coming home after a few years of being away. He lives in Seattle, but his mom
is lives near me. So I am pretty excited to catch up with him. I am also really
excited to get back into reading during the break and catching up on shows that
have been sitting in my DVR for months now.
Besides all
that the main reason I made time to write this post. A few weeks ago I started
The Sentinel War series by Shannon K. Butcher. Tonight I finished the third installment
Running
Scared and have moved on to Living Nightmare. Already each book
has consumed me; I truly did not think that I would enjoy this series. It has
all the things that I look for but the actual story was something that I thought
I wouldn’t get into. I was wrong thankfully and have been inhaling each book so
far. Each couple has kept my interest on different levels. What I enjoy about
Butcher that I find only a few authors can do is when they begin to start
introducing other characters. Butcher makes me fall for future couples even
before I get to their book. For example in the first book with Drake and Helen,
she introduced Zach and Lexi. The third book was their story and from the build
up before I was consumed when reading and couldn’t put the book down. Now I am
on book four and the hero is Madoc, who has lost his last leaf already and has
been hiding it for months now. Our heroine is Nika, who has had her mind
shattered and has been recovering for years now and has barely made a dent. Of course
this all changes when Madoc enters and she can feel herself start to actually
get better. The problem though is that Madoc has feeling, but doesn’t think
that she can actually save him. All of this has been building up for two books
now. Needless to say I am excited to get into it. The most important thing
about these books though is the hero. I always for the heroes that fall in love
the hardest; the ones that you know need it the most. And every hero so far has
deserved it more than the last. Now that I am at Madoc I can’t wait to see how
things play out. Nika is already there and knows that she needs Madoc, Madoc
though is not really at that point there and I have a feeling that this might
be a struggle. Either way I have a feeling that Madoc might become one of the
few heroes that I will always fall back on and become a favorite.

Lords of the Underworld
SO since classes have started I have been reading the Lords of the Underworld series by Gena Showalter. Keep in mind that I did start this series last year, but of course being the avid reader that I am I have a lot of series that I keep up with. SO at the time I was reading JR Ward I'm assuming. So anyways one leads to another and I forgot about it. Now that I don't have any other books coming out I thought it would be a good time to start it over. So its been about 4 weeks I want to so say. Since I had finished What Happened to Goodbye by Sarah Dessen literally the day before classes started, so it has been about 4 weeks. So in 4 weeks I have read The Darkest Night, The Darkest Kiss, The Darkest Pleasure and The Darkest Whisper(which I just finished this afternoon). Now I'm hooked into the story and I want to read about all the boys.
The core of the story is that these men are possessed by demons that were trapped in Pandora's box. The men were guards for the gods, born as warriors, created for the purpose of protecting the gods. They ended up opening the box and releasing the demons. They were unhappy that the gods picked Pandora to guard the box. So as punishment the gods placed the demons into each of the men. Now they are bonded and one cannot be without the other. So of course there has to be some type of villian that makes their lives hell. This group is titled as Hunters, humans set out to kill the worlds. They basically blame the lords for all the bad that has happened in the world. Which of course is wrong since humans have free will, and the lords are not the blame for everything. Now the goal is to find Pandora's box and destroy it. That is the core of the series, we have the bad guys, the warriors that just want to live a semi normal life and the general goal of the series.
Now lets talk about the men book one is Maddox, he is the keeper of Violence. His mate is Ashlyn. Book two is Lucien, he is the keeper of Death and the leader of the men in Budapest. His mate is Anya who also happens to be the goddess of Anarchy(needless to say she is one of my favorites). In book three we have Reyes, he is the keeper of Pain. His mate is Danika, who also is an artifact in helping to find Pandora's box. In book four we have Sabin, he is the keeper of Doubt, he is the leader of the group that separated from the group that went to Budapest. His mate is Gwen who is a Harpy and a good one at that.
Now the rest of the boys who I have yet to read books on :
Aeron: keeper of Wrath
Paris: keeper of Promiscuity
Gideon: keeper of Lies
Amun: keeper of Secrets
Strider: keeper of Defeat
Kane: keeper of Destruction
Cameo: keeper of Misery
Torin: keeper of Disease
There are more but I have yet to read about them. I'm getting really into and making time between my classes and homework. It's also makes me happy to see that my list of books that I've been reading since the beginning of the year is growing.
Now I am on to The Darkest Passion, which is about Aeron (keeper of Wrath). Our heroine in this story is Olivia, and according to the synopsis she is a fallen angel. So I am intrigued to see this plays out. I have a feeling that she is the essence that he has been feeling in the last book.
