What I've been up to

In the past week I've finished The Moon and More by Sarah Dessen. She is an all time favorite of mine, but this story did fall a little short in my eyes. Of course though I am a softy and I like a good romance any day. This story just fell short on that aspect. Other than that I have been packing for my upcoming trip to Mexico. I am very excited and I leave tomorrow. So in the week that I am gone I plan to be doing a lot of reading while sitting by the pool and relaxing. The first book on my list is Shadow Game by Christine Feehan. I am already half way into the book and I am loving it. The romance level is just what I like and being that this is the first book in the series it has a good amount of getting the general detail of the plot and adding a good mixture of action. I am fully prepared for my flight tomorrow and I already have the next four books in the series downloaded and in my reader. It is safe to say that I am ready for my week of relaxation.

Update

OK once again I have two books to talk about at once since I read both relatively quickly(I practically inhaled them both). So the books I'm talking about are Bound by Darkness and The Darkness Beyond.  Both are by Alexis Morgan and are truly fantastic. Our heroes are Larem (Bound by Darkness) and DJ (The Darkness Beyond). These two did not disappoint at all, I couldn't get enough. Lately I have been a sucker for the lonely characters and the underdog.
Let me talk about Larem, he is Kaltih and he is considered a traitor in his world. He can across the barrier in Cullen's book with Lushan and the children. he was put in this world with no inclination of what would happen to him. He just knew that he couldn't go back. In his book it has been a few months and he is still unsure of how he fits in this new world. One of the best things about this book is that our heroine, Sasha, is sent by the Regents to asses the Seattle Paladins, so basically she decides their fates. She is a tough one, she can go up against the best of them and hold her own. During the whole book I was cheering for Larem. I didn't like him when he appeared in Cullen's and Lushan's book but I grew to love him when he got his own book. I felt for him and I really wanted him to get his happy ending. Sasha I had to grow to like, but it didn't take long, in the end she did prove herself. She is a tough one, but she had flaws like all heroines that just rubbed me the wrong way. What I love about the Kalith is the way they act towards love. Larem tells her upfront what he wants and that he won't be some secret for her. Barak had done the same thing in his book. I love when the hero doesn't beat around the bush. I cuts out some off the back and forth. Of course they eventually realize that they love the woman and will take whatever she is able to give. The best part of the book though is the surprise at in the last two chapters.
Now lets talk about DJ(tech genius) and Reggie. Both are hackers and Reggie is the one that can actually beat DJ at his own game. I knew right away that I was going to like her, because when the heroine can one up the hero it makes for great interactions. In this book DJ has to go across the barrier to rescue her. I like the connection made there since Cullen went across the barrier, now it was DJ's turn to go across and save his women. I did feel that this installment had moved quickly, which I liked and there was a lot of interaction between DJ and Reggie. I love DJ just like I knew I would. He is the last of the main Paladins and man do I love him. He is a tough guy, but I felt like he missed his buds. All of them are paired up and he was the last one to find that special person to knock him off his feet. Reggie was very fitting, just the right amount of tough and, but still feminine at the same time and very funny at times. That is one thing that Morgan never disappoints in, her heroines always have the right amount of quirkiness. The end of the book is my favorite because even though DJ tries one last time to push her away after he comes back from death, she surprises him when he thinks she actually left. Reggie knew that she loved him and didn't want to let him go. In the book she says that he deserves someone to miss him and be there for him. Right there she earned a spot in my favorites. Now if only she could do the new recruits that made an appearance and Jake the tech genius from St. Louis, hopefully she will, I would like to read their stories.

Defeat the Darkness

So I finished Defeat the Darkness and I am very pleased with how it played out. Hunter is up there in my favorite characters that have a special place in my heart as well as Tate. She did have her moment that i was like 'seriously', she decided at the worst moment to get involved and cause the situation to ge worse. Which then leads to the relationship faulting and causing even more problems. Even with her mishaps I did really love her and was glad that she the was the type to stick up for herself and was able to put Hunter in his place when it was needed. One thing though with their relationship was that there was a constant feeling that Hunter shouldn't be with her. Most heroes have this feeling but for this story Morgan when a little bit more in the story. It's that constant thought of why not just give in to the feelings and accept what happen and adjust. Obviously the end result is they are together and they reach the thought of just giving into their feelings and taking the leap. When both characters finally realize that they deserve to be happy is always one of my favorite parts in a book. Now lets talk a little bit of the action and answers start to finally be answered. We find out who has been dealing with the blue stones and where the Others have been crossing from. Now it's time to find out how many have actually crossed without the Paladins knowing. The old problems have ended and now it's time for a little clean up.

Now to continue unwrapping the world that is the Paladins

UPDATE

So it's been awhile hasn't it. I'm already well into the Paladin series, I am currently of book six and man am I loving it. But of course there are others before that. My last post mention Dark Defender, when I finished that I moved on to In Darkness Reborn; which was about Barak who came across from the barrier and Lacey. Then came Redeemed in Darkness which was about Cullen and Lusahn (Barak's sister); this couple earned a spot in my favorites. Lusahn was just so strong and kick ass, but when it came to Cullen she was a woman and he treated her the way a woman should be treated. Man did I just love Cullen, he is the genius along with D.J. of the group. What makes this book a favorite is that Morgan gives you the side of the Others and enlightens you with their lives and gives them more personality. I love when others dive into the other side of stories. The next book is Darkness Unknown, here we have Jarvis and Gwen. Jarvis was first introduced in Dark Defender with Trahern. I had a feeling that I was going to really like Jarvis since he is the equivalence of Delvin in the Missouri section of the Paladins. Since Cullen's book I have grown to like each hero more. The development of each character is well done and I truly like each one. Now I am on Defeat the Darkness. Okay now to get down to how much I love my hero tortured and in pain, rough I know, but man it makes for a great story and I can connect with the character and feel for him. It may be some subconscious thought saying I want someone to take care of, but really I have no time for that. My time is better spent reading duh. Anyways so far I am in love, Hunter is the perfect amount of tortured and strong and determined. He is a great hero that needs someone that won't take his shit and puts him in his place. That brings us to Tate Justice, she is just the cutest thing. She owns a tea shop and is an romance author working on her first book.  I adore her tons and can't wait to see what happens. I have two more and a novella to go and then I move on and discover a new world and hopefully have a new set of characters to fall in love with. Well that 's where I'm at and making my way to reaching 40 or more books read by the end of the summer.
