Finals Week

Finals week has come upon us. Thankfully I only have one exam to worry about and get back into reading full time between catching up with friends and working. With classes coming to an end, friends are staring to come back home for the holidays. One of the best things about winter break is seeing my friends that go to school out of state. One of my closest friend is coming home after a few years of being away. He lives in Seattle, but his mom is lives near me. So I am pretty excited to catch up with him. I am also really excited to get back into reading during the break and catching up on shows that have been sitting in my DVR for months now.

Besides all that the main reason I made time to write this post. A few weeks ago I started The Sentinel War series by Shannon K. Butcher. Tonight I finished the third installment Running Scared and have moved on to Living Nightmare. Already each book has consumed me; I truly did not think that I would enjoy this series. It has all the things that I look for but the actual story was something that I thought I wouldn’t get into. I was wrong thankfully and have been inhaling each book so far. Each couple has kept my interest on different levels. What I enjoy about Butcher that I find only a few authors can do is when they begin to start introducing other characters. Butcher makes me fall for future couples even before I get to their book. For example in the first book with Drake and Helen, she introduced Zach and Lexi. The third book was their story and from the build up before I was consumed when reading and couldn’t put the book down. Now I am on book four and the hero is Madoc, who has lost his last leaf already and has been hiding it for months now. Our heroine is Nika, who has had her mind shattered and has been recovering for years now and has barely made a dent. Of course this all changes when Madoc enters and she can feel herself start to actually get better. The problem though is that Madoc has feeling, but doesn’t think that she can actually save him. All of this has been building up for two books now. Needless to say I am excited to get into it. The most important thing about these books though is the hero. I always for the heroes that fall in love the hardest; the ones that you know need it the most. And every hero so far has deserved it more than the last. Now that I am at Madoc I can’t wait to see how things play out. Nika is already there and knows that she needs Madoc, Madoc though is not really at that point there and I have a feeling that this might be a struggle. Either way I have a feeling that Madoc might become one of the few heroes that I will always fall back on and become a favorite.

what i've been up to

Burning Alive (Book 1) Shannon k Butcher

Finding the Lost (Book 2) Shannon K Butcher
So I know it's been awhile since I last made a proper post. If school wasn't such a pain I would be on top of my game with giving proper for each book that I've read within like the past month. I have been reading every chance I get. It seems to be the only real escape that I have nowadays. Thankfully though I only have a couple more weeks before classes are over and then finals being. of course with all that free time i'll be working and reading. So anyways the book that I just finished was Burning Alive by Shannon K. Butcher. Now when I first heard about the series i didn't think I was going to like it. also it didn't help that when I first picked up the book I was coming off a high from Dianne Duvall's newest book Darkness Rises (which was AMAZING!). Back to Butcher, so I was a little worried that it wasn't going to be that good. It did take a few chapters to get me going but eventually I did. I fell in love the connection between the men. Of course I always fall in love with a group of men that have a deep connection and sense of honor. I was reading every chance I got, in between class, during my break at work, at home in between doing homework. My friends at this point are used to me when i get sucked into a book. They know that once I'm in in gone until I finish it. The main concept is demons and different sectors of creatures. The main one Theronai, who are some badass warriors. Their downfall is that the live a long time, but eventually their lifeline (which is a tree that acts as a tattoo) eventually starts to lose it leaves, when the last leaf falls the being the downward spiral into insanity and death. The only chance they have is finding a Theronai female that can channel the power that is stored in the males. The thing though is that the women were slaughtered centuries ago and the men lost hope of finding any female to buffer their pain. Of course in comes in Helen, the first to be found in centuries. She is pretty cool, at first she is weak and you think that she is going to be useless but in the end she proves herself and turns out to be even more than you expected in the beginning. With Helen in the picture there is now hope for the men that there are more out there just like her and so begins the quest for some of the men. In the first book there isn't much plot development, you do find out though that the enemy is trying to break loose and roam on earth freely. Which of course is the main reason for most enemies in books. besides that I am on to the second installment Finding the Lost which is about Paul and Andra, and Andra has a good understanding of what goes bump in the night. I am hoping that since she has an understanding that she will be pretty badass and stubborn. OH before I forget the main concept that I like when it comes to the couples is that once they touch they begin the process of being bonded, but the women has the choice to leave when she wants and the women are considered treasures within the community.

Until next time safe travels

Lords of the Underworld

SO since classes have started I have been reading the Lords of the Underworld series by Gena Showalter. Keep in mind that I did start this series last year, but of course being the avid reader that I am I have a lot of series that I keep up with. SO at the time I was reading JR Ward I'm assuming. So anyways one leads to another and I forgot about it. Now that I don't have any other books coming out I thought it would be a good time to start it over. So its been about 4 weeks I want to so say. Since I had finished What Happened to Goodbye by Sarah Dessen literally the day before classes started, so it has been about 4 weeks. So in 4 weeks I have read The Darkest Night, The Darkest Kiss, The Darkest Pleasure and The Darkest Whisper(which I just finished this afternoon). Now I'm hooked into the story and I want to read about all the boys.

The core of the story is that these men are possessed by demons that were trapped in Pandora's box. The men were guards for the gods, born as warriors, created for the purpose of protecting the gods. They ended up opening the box and releasing the demons. They were unhappy that the gods picked Pandora to guard the box. So as punishment the gods placed the demons into each of the men. Now they are bonded and one cannot be without the other. So of course there has to be some type of villian that makes their lives hell. This group is titled as Hunters, humans set out to kill the worlds. They basically blame the lords for all the bad that has happened in the world. Which of course is wrong since humans have free will, and the lords are not the blame for everything. Now the goal is to find Pandora's box and destroy it. That is the core of the series, we have the bad guys, the warriors that just want to live a semi normal life and the general goal of the series.

Now lets talk about the men book one is Maddox, he is the keeper of Violence. His mate is Ashlyn. Book two is Lucien, he is the keeper of Death and the leader of the men in Budapest. His mate is Anya who also happens to be the goddess of Anarchy(needless to say she is one of my favorites). In book three we have Reyes, he is the keeper of Pain. His mate is Danika, who also is an artifact in helping to find Pandora's box. In book four we have Sabin, he is the keeper of Doubt, he is the leader of the group that separated from the group that went to Budapest. His mate is Gwen who is a Harpy and a good one at that.

Now the rest of the boys who I have yet to read books on :
Aeron: keeper of Wrath
Paris: keeper of Promiscuity
Gideon: keeper of Lies
Amun: keeper of Secrets
Strider: keeper of Defeat
Kane: keeper of Destruction
Cameo: keeper of Misery
Torin: keeper of Disease

There are more but I have yet to read about them. I'm getting really into and making time between my classes and homework. It's also makes me happy to see that my list of books that I've been reading since the beginning of the year is growing.

Now I am on to The Darkest Passion, which is about Aeron (keeper of Wrath). Our heroine in this story is Olivia, and according to the synopsis she is a fallen angel. So I am intrigued to see this plays out. I have a feeling that she is the essence that he has been feeling in the last book.

book one : The Darkest Night
book two : The Darkest Kiss

book three : The Darkest Pleasure
book four : The Darkest Whisper

Just a quick update

So I am about 3 weeks into classes. So I've been pretty busy with school work at the moment. But of course the only way I can stay sane is by reading. So since school started I have read 2 books; The Darkest Night and The Darkest Kiss both are by Gena Showalter. I've started this series before, but of course at the time it was just a filler. I had been waiting for another series at the time. At the moment though I have nothing so I decided to start it up again. I forgot that I actually liked the two that I had read. Now I am on the third installment The Darkest Pleasure. I am really like this one since of course Reyes is tortured, he is the keeper of pain. He inflicts pain on himself the satisfy his demon. I would have to say that he has it pretty tough. Dankia is the heroine and I would have to say that she might not be my favorite heroine. She was recruited by the Hunters to gather information, but at the same time she has feelings for Reyes. So needless to say there is a lot of back and forth going on her part. Either way Reyes makes up for it and there is plenty of plot development going on within the story. I do have to say though that the characters that she mention so far, I am intrigued to read their stories. Right now she is focusing on Paris who is the keeper of Promiscuity. His would be mate died, but of course that is not the end of the story he actually gets his own book so I am excited to see how Showalter plays that out. So far that is all I have to say and I am glad to actually get back to reading this series. There are plenty of books that I have coming up, so I plan on fitting every chance I get to reading.

summer is over :(

Now that summer is over that means I am now going to be swamped with school and little time to do any reading. In the beginning of the summer I made a goal for myself to double the number of books that I had read from January to May, at that time I was at 20 books. so for may to now this very day I have read 20 books, which makes 40 BOOKS since the beginning of the year. I've never decided to count how many books  I read in a year before. Now though I am interested to see how many books i will reach by the end of the year. Right now I m finishing up book 41 of the list which is What Happen to Good Bye from Sarah Dessen. Pretty cool and I haven't rushed through any, just have taken the normal time that usually takes me to read a book which is about a week maybe two at most. But of course it is now the fall and I have actual school work in between, but I have a feeling that it wont hinder me too much. That's all for now until next time.

Just a little update....

So I'm still reading Predatory Game since I've been swamped with work and have had little time to read, but I am really enjoying what i have read so far. I absolutely adore Kadan, he is just the cutest of them all. He is also the toughest and the one you don't want to run into when he is angry. Which I think is what makes him so cute because when it comes to Tansy he appears tough, but is putty in her hands when she knows what buttons to push. Which is why I enjoy Tansy because she appears fragile, but in reality is a very tough chick that can use her skills when she needs to. Her gift takes a massive toll on her, but yet she still uses it when she knows it can help people in need. Their relationship is also different then those that have come before them. It isn't as explosive as the ones before. Kadan has all the qualities and the pervious men, but Tansy isn't as explosive, but at the same time her feelings for him are very strong and she is determined to stay by his side. Explosive or not it is still melts my heart when they are together and interact. I'm well into the story and man is there a lot of things going on, but when I do get the chance to read i can't put it down. So that's all for now and I need to continue to read.

Predatory Game by Christine Feehan

I've recently finished Predatory Game the sixth installment of the Ghost Walker series. Our hero is Jesse Calhoun and our heroine is Saber Wynter. Now before I went into it my thoughts were why Jesse. When Jesse is first brought into the series he was Dahlia's handler, I didn't think much of him at the time. So I thought it was a bit unnecessary to have a whole book dedicated to him. Then we have Saber who has a powerful gift and a dangerous one at that. This I believe was the fault in our heroine, she had a dangerous gift, but it could also be used for good. But it didn't seem like she was willing to learn what it could be used for. She only know the bad sad and ran from it in a way, she has always been on the run and basically is scared of it. Now in the beginning of the book the two of them have been living together for some time now, but neither of them really knew what or who the other was. Again another flaw in the book. This created a rollercoaster of ups and downs that I just did not want to be apart of. I'm not saying it was the worse book in the world, but isn't in my top 10. There was jus constant back and forth between the two about her wanting to run away and him not letting her go, but seriously we all know she was never going to actually run away from him. Saber's personal demons were just always getting in the way and to top it off she ends up having a stalker that doesn't really have much to do in the story all it does is add more unnecessary drama. The biggest thing I didn't like was that she was trained to be an assian at a young age, but she let that completely ruin herself. Having lived with the things that she did can cause some serious damage, but at the same time I would have liked her to have more strength. There was also a lot of talking between to two of them, but my favorite parts were when the rest of the team was involved. IN the end though I did grow to like Jesse, but he still isn't my favorite and Saber was just lacking in spots in my eyes. All in all their story isn't really needed, but you do learn some very important information connected with Whitney and the damage that he continues to cause.

I'm back

So it feels like it has been forever since I last wrote a post, but in reality it's probably hasn't really been that long. Anyways I am out of my little slump and back on my way to finishing twenty books by the first day of classes. Being in a slump is never fun especially if you are like me and love reading every second you can. It can be hard with all my jobs and needing a little social time, but I always manage. Some may think I'm crazy, but come on reading about a different world is so much better than living the life I currently live. Anyways I am making my way throw Christine Feehan's Ghost Walker series. I was a little stuck on Gator's book Night Game, but was I was in I ran with it and couldn't stop reading. Then After Gator's book I moved on to Jack Norton's book Conspiracy Game. Let me just say I love when the hero is tortured and doesn't think he is right. Jack Norton is just that, coming from a family that is truly damaged. His father was obsessed with his mother and did not like her around anybody not even her own children. His father was so out of his mind that he eventually killed her. This would obviously caused issues in the future to both of the Norton twins. When it comes to falling in love Ken and Jack have no idea what they are doing. But one of the things that they do know is that they have each others back. The camaraderie between jack and Ken is so lovely and perfect that you look forward to when they interact with each other. I love a good set of twins and the Norton twins are PERFECT I love them so much. Now obviously Ken has to get a book and it follows up after Jack. Jack's heroine is Briony who was apart of a circus and had to deal everyday with the fact that she felt everything around her. Now on the opposite end Ken's heroine is Marigold, Briony's twin sister. How fitting that the twins would be paired up. Now Ken is known to be the easy going twin, the one everybody is friends with. In reality the image Ken shows is nothing of what he really is. He is extremely damaged inside and out, after being tortured and skinned alive in the Congo. Now Ken may not be the favorite twin after reading both of their books, but he is my favorite twin. Their is just something that I couldn't stop reading about. In the book he is suffering from PTSD and thinks that he is going to end up like his father. Both twins have this thought, but what they don't see is that their life experiences have stopped them from ending up like the old man. Now the heroines are completely opposite, Briony is sweet and slightly more submissive. Marigold on the other hand is dominant and won't do anything she doesn't want to do, she will fight with everything that she has. What I like about them is that they are different. Marigold was kept and continued to be experimented on in one of Whitney's compounds. Both very different, but at the same had to deal with a tortured life. At the end of Ken's book they finally meet and Mari doesn't know what to do. She has only lived the life of an experiment. I would live to see what would come in the future. I do hope that Feehan brings back these two couples and show how far they have gone. Now after loving Ken, Jack and Gator I am on to Jesse Calhoun. Jesse is apart of the SEAL Ghost Walkers, same as Ken and Jack. Jesse was mentioned in Nico's book, he was the handler for Dahlia. In that book he had been injured and became paralyzed from the knees down. He has his own book and I'm interested in what will come out of this book. He isn't as involved in the field anymore, so what is there that he could be doing. I have a feeling this book may be more informative instead of action so we will have to see.

What I've been up to...

So it's been a few days since I've gotten back from Mexico. It was a very relaxing trip full of sun and sitting by the pool. I started a new series at least new to me by Christine Feehan while I was there. it is her Ghost Walker series and boy am I in love with the heros in the story. I finished the first installment with Ryland and Lily and I was very pleased with how the relationship carried throughout the book. This has been a first for me in the adult generes where I am not reading about vampires. I was a bit worried about reading this series, but I have been preparing for it. I did this by picking authors that still had something along of vampires but not as much as like Ward. SO now I'm on Feehan and there are only enhanced group of men that have military backgrounds. The one thing that I truly love about this group of heroes. The way Feehan writes them interacting is just the best. I get the same feeling as when I read the interactions between the Brotherhood. They are a tough badass group of men, but tat the same time they are just a group of men that stick together and support one another. But of course there are the heroines and so far with the first two I was not disappointed. She was quirky, independent, adorable when she rambles on her own. When I started though I was a little slow to start it. I think it was because after reading the Moon and More I was a little sluggish. Once I got into it though I couldn't stop. I've read Shadow Game and Mind Game. out of the two Mind Game caught my attention more because of the hero Nicolas Trevane, he is the right hand to Ryland who is the leader of the group. There is plenty of action which in the past few months I really enjoy in a series. Now I am on the third installment which is called Night Game. The hero in the story is Gator and needless to say I am excited for his story. In previous appearances I have gotten the feeling that he is the type of character that you could just hang out with and have a good time with. And the heroine in the story is Flame and from the hints about her she seems like she is going to be a tough one. She is what they call an anchor. This means that she has stronger barriers and can control the bombardment of feelings coming at her from those around her. She also has simliar abilities as Gator which should make for interesting interactions. So hopefully I won't be disappointed, now to get reading.

What I've been up to

In the past week I've finished The Moon and More by Sarah Dessen. She is an all time favorite of mine, but this story did fall a little short in my eyes. Of course though I am a softy and I like a good romance any day. This story just fell short on that aspect. Other than that I have been packing for my upcoming trip to Mexico. I am very excited and I leave tomorrow. So in the week that I am gone I plan to be doing a lot of reading while sitting by the pool and relaxing. The first book on my list is Shadow Game by Christine Feehan. I am already half way into the book and I am loving it. The romance level is just what I like and being that this is the first book in the series it has a good amount of getting the general detail of the plot and adding a good mixture of action. I am fully prepared for my flight tomorrow and I already have the next four books in the series downloaded and in my reader. It is safe to say that I am ready for my week of relaxation.

Update

OK once again I have two books to talk about at once since I read both relatively quickly(I practically inhaled them both). So the books I'm talking about are Bound by Darkness and The Darkness Beyond.  Both are by Alexis Morgan and are truly fantastic. Our heroes are Larem (Bound by Darkness) and DJ (The Darkness Beyond). These two did not disappoint at all, I couldn't get enough. Lately I have been a sucker for the lonely characters and the underdog.
Let me talk about Larem, he is Kaltih and he is considered a traitor in his world. He can across the barrier in Cullen's book with Lushan and the children. he was put in this world with no inclination of what would happen to him. He just knew that he couldn't go back. In his book it has been a few months and he is still unsure of how he fits in this new world. One of the best things about this book is that our heroine, Sasha, is sent by the Regents to asses the Seattle Paladins, so basically she decides their fates. She is a tough one, she can go up against the best of them and hold her own. During the whole book I was cheering for Larem. I didn't like him when he appeared in Cullen's and Lushan's book but I grew to love him when he got his own book. I felt for him and I really wanted him to get his happy ending. Sasha I had to grow to like, but it didn't take long, in the end she did prove herself. She is a tough one, but she had flaws like all heroines that just rubbed me the wrong way. What I love about the Kalith is the way they act towards love. Larem tells her upfront what he wants and that he won't be some secret for her. Barak had done the same thing in his book. I love when the hero doesn't beat around the bush. I cuts out some off the back and forth. Of course they eventually realize that they love the woman and will take whatever she is able to give. The best part of the book though is the surprise at in the last two chapters.
Now lets talk about DJ(tech genius) and Reggie. Both are hackers and Reggie is the one that can actually beat DJ at his own game. I knew right away that I was going to like her, because when the heroine can one up the hero it makes for great interactions. In this book DJ has to go across the barrier to rescue her. I like the connection made there since Cullen went across the barrier, now it was DJ's turn to go across and save his women. I did feel that this installment had moved quickly, which I liked and there was a lot of interaction between DJ and Reggie. I love DJ just like I knew I would. He is the last of the main Paladins and man do I love him. He is a tough guy, but I felt like he missed his buds. All of them are paired up and he was the last one to find that special person to knock him off his feet. Reggie was very fitting, just the right amount of tough and, but still feminine at the same time and very funny at times. That is one thing that Morgan never disappoints in, her heroines always have the right amount of quirkiness. The end of the book is my favorite because even though DJ tries one last time to push her away after he comes back from death, she surprises him when he thinks she actually left. Reggie knew that she loved him and didn't want to let him go. In the book she says that he deserves someone to miss him and be there for him. Right there she earned a spot in my favorites. Now if only she could do the new recruits that made an appearance and Jake the tech genius from St. Louis, hopefully she will, I would like to read their stories.

Defeat the Darkness

So I finished Defeat the Darkness and I am very pleased with how it played out. Hunter is up there in my favorite characters that have a special place in my heart as well as Tate. She did have her moment that i was like 'seriously', she decided at the worst moment to get involved and cause the situation to ge worse. Which then leads to the relationship faulting and causing even more problems. Even with her mishaps I did really love her and was glad that she the was the type to stick up for herself and was able to put Hunter in his place when it was needed. One thing though with their relationship was that there was a constant feeling that Hunter shouldn't be with her. Most heroes have this feeling but for this story Morgan when a little bit more in the story. It's that constant thought of why not just give in to the feelings and accept what happen and adjust. Obviously the end result is they are together and they reach the thought of just giving into their feelings and taking the leap. When both characters finally realize that they deserve to be happy is always one of my favorite parts in a book. Now lets talk a little bit of the action and answers start to finally be answered. We find out who has been dealing with the blue stones and where the Others have been crossing from. Now it's time to find out how many have actually crossed without the Paladins knowing. The old problems have ended and now it's time for a little clean up.

Now to continue unwrapping the world that is the Paladins

UPDATE

So it's been awhile hasn't it. I'm already well into the Paladin series, I am currently of book six and man am I loving it. But of course there are others before that. My last post mention Dark Defender, when I finished that I moved on to In Darkness Reborn; which was about Barak who came across from the barrier and Lacey. Then came Redeemed in Darkness which was about Cullen and Lusahn (Barak's sister); this couple earned a spot in my favorites. Lusahn was just so strong and kick ass, but when it came to Cullen she was a woman and he treated her the way a woman should be treated. Man did I just love Cullen, he is the genius along with D.J. of the group. What makes this book a favorite is that Morgan gives you the side of the Others and enlightens you with their lives and gives them more personality. I love when others dive into the other side of stories. The next book is Darkness Unknown, here we have Jarvis and Gwen. Jarvis was first introduced in Dark Defender with Trahern. I had a feeling that I was going to really like Jarvis since he is the equivalence of Delvin in the Missouri section of the Paladins. Since Cullen's book I have grown to like each hero more. The development of each character is well done and I truly like each one. Now I am on Defeat the Darkness. Okay now to get down to how much I love my hero tortured and in pain, rough I know, but man it makes for a great story and I can connect with the character and feel for him. It may be some subconscious thought saying I want someone to take care of, but really I have no time for that. My time is better spent reading duh. Anyways so far I am in love, Hunter is the perfect amount of tortured and strong and determined. He is a great hero that needs someone that won't take his shit and puts him in his place. That brings us to Tate Justice, she is just the cutest thing. She owns a tea shop and is an romance author working on her first book.  I adore her tons and can't wait to see what happens. I have two more and a novella to go and then I move on and discover a new world and hopefully have a new set of characters to fall in love with. Well that 's where I'm at and making my way to reaching 40 or more books read by the end of the summer.

Dark Defender

So last night I finished Dark Defender by Alexis Morgan and man the male characters are awesome. They are just a group of bad ass dudes that are full of honor and should not be messed with. Blake Trahern is our hero and Brenna is out heroine and man are these two not amazing. I know when Blake first pops up in the first book that I was going to love him. There is nothing like a big tough guy that is so close to losing his humanity that warms my heart. I love when they are so tortured and are at the point of giving up that anything good will happen in their lives. But of course we all know that there is a strong kick ass heroine out there that won't take his shit and shows them that there is still hope for them to know love. Yes I am a complete sap when it comes to romance, I live through characters and their experience, that might be pretty sad, but who cares. I read to escape not to find myself hence why I don't read self help books. Anyways I was pleased once again that Morgan didn't waste time in detailing all the little things, she picks up right where she left off in the first book and carried on. Why waste three pages worth of detail describing the way the wind blew throw her hair when you could just jump into all the juicy parts that make you giggle and sit on the edge of your seat. Same for action parts don't tell me how the blade cut through him inch by inch and how he felt every last bit twist and turn, I get it he was stabbed and it hurt like hell. Morgan does that for me, she packs in romance and plenty of action to keep me happy while still developing characters that can have a place in my heart. Trahern has his only little corner being all brooding and what not,but we all know he is a softy like the rest of them. Now Brenna rally enjoyed her character and how she progressed throughout the story. She was no little miss thing that just sat there and was a wimp. There are times where I wanted to be tougher, but of course as the reader I am getting all sides and know everything while the characters themselves are still progressing and getting the details at the writers speed. Since I'm reading the series via eBook I do have to say that I wish they were a bit longer, obviously I don't know what the rest of the series holds, but I would like a little more in content. Again which reader is every happy with how much or how little content a writer gives. We always want the story to carry on forever... if only. Anyways I'm pleased with how the story is carrying on and I'm very glad that she is not dragging on villains. They are tied together in a bigger way, but obviously there is someone bigger and badder that Morgan has yet to reveal, I'll have to continue reading to see who it will be and I can't wait.
Now on to the next one....

Dark Protector

So I finished Dark Protector by Alexis Morgan yesterday. I was pleased with how she created a good base for the story line. I really like that she didn't spend pages trying to build up a scene or describe every little detail. The worst thing that can make or break a story I find is if a an author spends so much time going over every little thing. As an avid reader I don't need to have pages worth to describe the scene. Anyways Morgan did a good job being the first book in the series. I love Laurel, she was smart and independent. She was kept the hero, Devlin, on his toes and she could stand up against him when she needed to. I love when the heroine is quirky and she pushes the hero's buttons, it makes for very cute moments. I read it very quickly, but I am back in the groove and looking forward to what the rest of the series has in stored. I've already started the second in the series Dark Defender. SO far I would recommend this series, I like how there is a good balance of romance and action. I'm really enjoying where my stories have a bit more action that keep me on my toes. The second installment is good so far she doesn't waste time in describing and just tosses you right into the story which again I like in a series.

What I've bee up to

So I've been off the grid since the last time I posted. Well that same day I posted about Edge of Dawn I had finished it that same night. Then right after I picked up Beautiful Disaster and Walking Disaster both by Jamie McGuire. Needless to say I finished those in two days maybe three. I was so into them that I couldn't stop reading. It was great reading them after Edge of Dawn because they are non paranormal. Just straight romance and it was a nice little break, short lived in fact because then I went a whole day without reading, which is something that I rarely do. That caused me to be in a slump and I had tried picking up a book that I've been saying I will read for the past year. Well that didn't work out and that left me with going to my mother, who when it comes to books and what I should read is an encyclopedia. After knocking some books that she recommended I settled with Dark Protector my Alexis Morgan, and guess what I am back at it. I am back to my normal self with my nose in a book and traveling a new world.

I am now in the world of the Paladins and man are they kick ass. They protect the human world from the Others. I'm a little under half way, but I'm hooked and see a set of characters that could possibly join the elite class of characters that hold a special place in my heart. Ward owns the first set, then came Dianne Duvall, then there is Lara Adrian, and now Alexis Morgan may just make a place in too. All that matters is that I am back to my reading and that closer to 40 books read before the end of my summer break, lets do it.
Now to continue reading and discovering what else the Paladins have to offer.

Edge of Dawn

I have finished Darker after Midnight and was very pleased with how it turned out. Obviously we know how much I grew to love Chase and was very happy with the person that he turned out to be. He really is one of those characters that you know has so much potential, but has struggled so much and you just want ime to have the best story ever. He truly gets his story and you learn a whole lot about him. besides the love story, the development of the story as a whole with Dragos and the Order is amazing, I was very pleased with the balance of action and love within the whole book.

Now we move on to  Edge of Dawn, book 11 in the series. Here we Have Mira, who we have seen as a child, we seen her grow up a little in each book when she is mentioned. Now we have Mira the young woman, she is 29 in this story. She is our Heroine and our hero is Kellan. We've seen Kellan the troubled teen who had his family slaughtered with himself and his grandfather the only surviving members. SO much has happened since the end of Darker after Midnight to Edge of Dawn. Adrian though has done very well in giving you enough information of what has been happening, but not so much that you feel bord getting all the useless information that doesn't really matter. I'm only just beginning but so far she has brought in some of the old members and she has brought in new ones, so I can see her carrying the series for a bit longer. I am glad to see Nathan is still around and that she has parts where you have Lucan's point of view. She hasn't completely thrown out the oldies or as they are called the "elders of the order". I am waiting for more of the members to pop up. So far I am intrigued with how Adrian will carry out the story.

Now to continue reading, I've barely read all day and I'm feeling withdrawal, must have my fix ;)

DARKER AFTER MIDNIGHT

I have reached the end and i'm a bit sad to finish. Page after page I have grown to love Chase.  Tavia even proved herself to be very interesting, I was not disappointed in the end and I'm excited to go on and read the next. I might be wrong but I don't think so, but this may be the longest book. It was worth the read in my opinion and Adrian concluded very nice. As my previous post have said Chase really became a character that can easily be in my top 10 favorite characters. YOu get his life story and you see his struggle with bloodlust that he had been dealing with for years. That right there shows his determination and heart in caring for those around him and knowing when he might push over the edge. He does come close at times, but his strength his inspirational in how he manages to drag himself back every time. He always has the intention of not hurting anyone that he cares about, even when he doubts if he is still apart of the order. That was one thing I never doubted throughout the book. It's a common thing with these type of series, the group of men always stick together even when the members struggle with their inner demons, but they always come through in the end and manage to have happy lives. But of course with any big ordeal there is an aftermath to deal with and the Order is going to have to deal with now and I'm interested in how Adrian will play it out. With Chase and the events that go on she could end the Breed and leave the rest to the readers imagination, but nope she has new installment called Edge of dawn and we have Mira and Kellan.

And it continues

Darker after Midnight is getting better with each chapter and Chase is really becoming a favorite in my eyes. In the past two days I just can't seem to stop reading. And I'm only a bit half way, there is still so much to go and I can't wait to read what will happen next. My thoughts are filling the pages and they just keep growing

What I'm currently reading

Darker after Midnight by Lara Adrian is slowly becoming a favorite. She is getting me through the downward high of Lover at Last.  Darker after Midnight brings me well into the story of the Midnight Breed. Here we have Chase Sterling ex enforcement agent and not so much breed warrior. Down in his luck and dealing with bloodlust and on the verge of becoming a rogue. So far the story is a bit more fast pace then those before it. This I find is because Adrian has build Chase a lot before this. I'm intrigued by Chase as the story has progressed within the series and within his own book. Keep in mind I am only 57 pages into his book. Now lets talk about the heroine Tavia, so far I don't know how I feel about her. I'm hoping that as the story goes she flips and I love her, but she still in the beginning stages of it all. As the story has progressed though I am loving Chase more and more. He is really progressing into the type of character that I love. Troubled, worn down, but won't give up. He is tough and doesn't give two shits and will plow down anybody in his way. He may not be in the order right now but he is still a warrior in my eyes.

Welcome

Summer vacation has started and I now have all the time I can ask for to read and discover new authors and what not. I'm excited for this time off and I cant wait to drown myself in loads of books. Lots of things planned this summer, concerts and music festivals and vacations and what not. With all that I want to read as many books as I possibly can. Since once school starts I will be drowning in art history and creative writing. I'm determined to be dedicated to this blog and take you along with me during my hopefully many different books and the crazy things that they put me through(forewarn I really get into books if they grab me right away). With the new books I will be reading I might slip in some old favorites because they are just so darn good and many should read them. I'm going into this with an head full of thoughts and worlds already ventured. No might read this, but you never know I might not be alone in this thought that books are priceless and can never be replaced, so maybe someone out there might just surprise me.
